The recent murder of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department is despicable. Black and Brown folks are incarcerated and killed at much higher rates than any other racial group. This is just another example of the racism present in America’s justice system.

The Central New York Labor Council stands in solidarity with all the protests going on throughout the country, but especially the one that occurred yesterday in Utica. Yadana Oo, Utica Councilman Delvin Moody, and their fellow organizers are leading the way to address systemic racism in Oneida County.

The labor movement is committed to anti-racism and social justice. True change will only come about when we all pledge ourselves to progress.
